West Ham United ready to sell Maxwel Cornet in transfer window despite David Moyes exit
West Ham will listen to offers for winger Maxwel Cornet to leave the club this summer, The Athletic reports.
According to Roshane Thomas via the outlet’s website on 4 June the Ivorian is available, on top of the expected departure of Said Benrahma, having been a target for Crystal Palace in January.
The 27-year-old arrived from Burnley two years ago but, while he suffered with injury issues in his time at the London Stadium, he was never favoured by David Moyes, starting just two Premier League games for the club.
But despite the Scot being replaced by Julen Lopetegui at manager this summer they are still prepared to move on from Cornet, who has three years left on his contract and an option for a further 12 months on top [Sky Sports].
The Irons also sold Pablo Fornals in January, after failing to replace Gianluca Scamacca in last summer’s window, are set to lose Divin Mubama imminently as his contract expires, and could also sell Danny Ings.
Should Julen Lopetegui give forgotten West Ham a fresh start?
Clearly Cornet’s time at the club hasn’t gone to plan but he has been so rarely spotted it is hard to determine whether he could still be an asset under the new manager.
Just like Flynn Downes, and to a lesser extent the likes of Scamacca, the left-sided attacker would hardly be the first player to be signed by West Ham who Moyes then had little interest in.
The Irons aren’t under any pressure to sell Cornet when there is so long left on his contract and he still has age on his side.
And while action is already being taken to start restocking the attacking positions for the incoming manager with an on-again, off-again move for Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras the club are thin in the wide areas.

Cornet scored nine Premier League goals for a relegated Burnley side to convince the Hammers hierarchy to sign him, suggesting that given the opportunity he could still be a useful option for the new boss.
It is hard to see any club putting a particularly attractive offer on the table to sign him otherwise when he has been allowed to fade into relative obscurity over the past two seasons, so the ex-Lyon man could feasibly prove to be, to coin a tired cliché, like a new signing next term.
In other West Ham news, the Irons want to sign an in-demand talent who has changed agents ahead of a possible transfer.
