West Ham United ready to hijack Chelsea transfer for Jhon Duran
West Ham United are eyeing up Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran as a possible addition this summer, according to talkSPORT.
The broadcaster reported via its website [2 July] that Premier League rivals Villa are open to offers for the Colombian international, seeing him as surplus to requirements for the upcoming season.
Despite long-standing interest from Chelsea since January, the Blues have yet to finalise a deal for Duran and that could pave the way for West Ham’s pursuit.
With Julen Lopetegui keen to strengthen his attacking options, Duran’s performances for Villa – mainly as a substitute – makes him a semi-attractive target.
Pursuing Jhon Duran could be risky business for West Ham United
Bringing in Duran could be a bit of a gamble for West Ham this summer, but it might just pay off.
The young Colombian striker is keen to leave Aston Villa, which opens a window of opportunity for the Hammers to bolster their attacking lineup.
However, there’s been some talk about Duran’s attitude, reportedly causing friction with Villa’s manager, Unai Emery, due to his eagerness for a move [Hammers News].
Despite these concerns, Duran’s youth and his knack for finding the net make him an intriguing prospect for West Ham, especially given their hit-and-miss record with strikers in recent seasons.
With the club’s technical director, Tim Steidten, also showing continued interest, it seems they see potential in Duran that could benefit their push for a higher standing in the Premier League.

If the deal can be done, managing any potential issues around his temperament will be key, but if the Hammers can harness his talent, it could be a smart move for the London club.
