West Ham United ready official transfer announcemement

West Ham are preparing to announce the signing of Palmeiras winger Luis Guilherme for up to £25.5million, according to ESPN Brazil.

ESPN reported that the 18-year-old Brazilian youth international is set to undergo a medical at the London Stadium and will be announced imminently if everything goes well.

The Hammers will reportedly pay a fixed fee of £19.5million with the potential of £6million in add-ons, with Palmeiras retaining 20 per cent of Guilherme’s rights that will act as a sell-on clause.

Guilherme is a player the Irons have been chasing for some time and could be announced as their first signing of the summer window, after striking a deal with his current club in Brazil at the start of last week [GE Globo].

West Ham’s Brazilian excursion finally looks set to come up trumps having sent some of their key figures out to South America with a long list of targets [Evening Standard].

Guilherme was one of the names right at the top of that list, with technical director Tim Steidten finally making a breakthrough after the transfer of Flamengo centre-back Fabricio Bruno fell through.

Agent Kia Joorabchian is also in Brazil looking to close deals for three other players, and the Hammers will hope that Guilherme’s imminent announcement could trigger a plethora of successful signings [Revista Colorada].

Still only 18 with fewer than 50 first-team appearances under his belt, Guilherme will slowly be phased into the Hammers side by Julen Lopetegui but is still expected to fulfil his £25.5million transfer fee.

The potential FA ban of his compatriot Lucas Paqueta could open up a spot in the starting XI [The Sun], and as the first signing of the Lopetegui era, Guilherme will be looking to grasp his opportunity with both hands.
