West Ham United ready new striker transfer at half of his release clause already
West Ham could sign Braga striker Simon Banza for half of his release clause this summer, according to Record.
O Jogo [4 June] have previously linked the Hammers with a move for the 27-year-old forward, suggesting that Marseille and clubs from the Middle East are also keeping tabs on the transfer situation.
The Portuguese newspaper has now reported in its print edition [6 June, page 20] that, despite his current contract containing a £34million release clause, Banza could be available for £17million this summer.
West Ham United look to sign Simon Banza as asking price slashed
Considering that 34-year-old Michail Antonio is the only regularly used striker at the London Stadium, Julen Lopetegui will, undoubtedly, be looking for a new forward this summer.
Danny Ings has failed to impress since arriving from Aston Villa in January 2023, and while Jarrod Bowen is capable of deputising up front, he looks much more comfortable in his natural winger position.
Banza’s stats are extremely impressive, having led the line as Braga claimed a top-four finish in Liga Portugal this season, notching 21 goals and four assists in the league.
The Dominican Republic of Congo forward looks to bring a lot of pace, energy and precision to the team, which could be a key addition to Lopetegui’s squad next season.
Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus and Bowen’s futures are all being thrown into question this summer, with several reports linking them with exits from the London Stadium.
However, the new manager will be keen to keep as many of the club’s prized possessions as the Irons enter into a new era following David Moyes’ exit at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

Although Antonio is likely to continue his career in London, the player’s injury record must be taken into consideration when considering which areas need investment in the transfer window.
With Banza available for half of his current release clause, it seems like a no-brainer for West Ham and Lopetegui.
In other West Ham news, the club have “closed an agreement” for a La Liga striker in a deal worth £25.5m.
