West Ham United ready new bid to sign Gianluca Scamacca after £28m Sassuolo development
West Ham are ready to make an “improved offer” to sign Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca, according to The Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported via their print edition on Friday (22 July, page 81) that Sassuolo have rejected West Ham’s opening bid of £28million for the 23-year-old Italy international.
It is understood that talks between the Irons and the Serie A club have been “positive”.

Hurry up
Why do we have to go down the same route every single transfer window?
While some deals like the Flynn Downes one can be done easily, it seems that whenever we’re trying to sign a player who we’re desperate for, we drag our heels.
It probably isn’t our fault and you can understand why the Hammers would want the best deals possible.
But it feels like every single transfer window, we’re sat at the negotiating table for way longer than other clubs because the board is so scared of splashing the cash.
Maybe it’s because we’ve had so many big-money failures over the years and signed so many strikers who’ve gone on to do absolutely nothing in claret and blue.
Or maybe it’s because we’re targetting players who might be just beyond us in terms of quality and price.
We like the ambition and hope that never stops but Scamacca was linked with Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer and every Hammers fan must admit we’re not on the same level as them.

Scamacca scored 16 Serie A goals last season in 36 appearances.
It’s a very good return for a mid-table club and the fact that he’s only 23 suggests that he could improve in the coming years and West Ham will have the striker position sorted for a while.
You don’t get strikers like that for less than £30million so it’s no shock that £28million offer was rejected.
