West Ham United ready move to sign Ademola Lookman as Stratford transfer news emerges
West Ham United are considering a move to sign Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman after his heroic Europa League final performance, according to The Mirror.
The newspaper reported via their website on 24 May that new manager Julen Lopetegui will work alongside technical director Tim Steidten to make signings this summer and Lookman, 26, is “under consideration” as an addition to West Ham’s left-wing.
The former Charlton and Everton attacker became the first player to score a Europa League final hat-trick on Wednesday night as Atalanta beat the previously unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the final in Dublin.
Who will West Ham United sign in the summer transfer window?
As is always the case, West Ham will be linked with a lot of players this summer and Steidten is bound to have plenty of names on his radar over the coming weeks and months.
Lookman is one that you can understand why he’d be looking at because the Hammers desperately need some extra quality on the left-wing.
This season, the London-born Nigeria international has scored 15 goals and supplied eight assists in 43 appearances across all competitions for Bergamo club Atalanta.
His performance against Leverkusen this week will go down in history. He was simply sensational with Ally McCoist drooling over him throughout the 90 minutes [Daily Mail] and L’Equipe – who are notoriously hard to impress – scoring him a rare 10/10 for his display.

Not only did he score that hat-trick against Leverkusen in the Europa League final but he also scored vital goals in knock-out games against Sporting CP and Marseille as the Italians marched on to Dublin.
Lookman’s been a bit quieter in Serie A. However, he bagged a brace against AC Milan in December while playing up front and has been used in pretty much every position across the attack.
The Hammers will be barking up the right tree with Lookman if they can get him but those three goals in the Irish capital mean he’ll cost a lot of money; money the Irons might not have if they cannot sell Lucas Paqueta due to these spot-fixing charges.
