West Ham United reach Aaron Wan-Bissaka agreement amid Manchester United exit update

West Ham United have reached an agreement with Manchester United for the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to Foot Mercato.

The French outlet reported on its website on Sunday (28 July) that the Irons have matched the Red Devils’ demands and agreed terms to sign the right-back having abandoned their pursuit of Noussair Mazraoui.

Julen Lopetegui’s side are yet to reach an agreement with the defender, but there is an expectation that the salary on offer at the London Stadium will convince Wan-Bissaka to make the move away from Old Trafford.

United have also reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for the signing of Mazraoui, but to get that deal over the line, Erik ten Hag’s side had part ways with Wan-Bissaka.

Will Aaron Wan-Bissaka exit Manchester United amid West Ham United transfer rumours?

While making additions at centre-back and striker was always going to be top of Lopetegui’s agenda in his first summer at the London Stadium, recruiting a new right-back could be one of the Irons’ best pieces of business.

Vladimir Coufal has been an excellent servant during his time in claret and blue, but his future remains unclear and after Ben Johnson’s departure, the Czech international has no competition for his place in the starting XI.

Wan-Bissaka may not be perfect and he has been criticised by fans and pundits alike in his time with Manchester United, but there are few defenders in the Premier League as comfortable defensively as the Red Devils man.

Under the right manager, the former Crystal Palace star will be able to discover the form that made him so coveted during his time at Selhurst Park and Lopetegui may just be that man to help him get back to his best.

If an agreement has been reached as has been reported, hopefully, personal terms will quickly follow so that the Hammers can then turn their attention to more attacking targets.
