West Ham United push to sign Carlos Soler as new transfer update emerges
West Ham are “speeding up” a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler, according to El Desmarqure.
The Spanish outlet reported [12 August] that the Ligue 1 giants could let the 27-year-old leave for around £17.1million this summer, with the Hammers interested.
It is understood that Julen Lopeteui will need to allow one of his current midfielders to leave before the Irons can take any final steps in completing the transfer.
West Ham United to sign Carlos Soler?
While Soler looks to be an interesting link at the London Stadium this summer, Lopetegui’s midfield options are already rather stacked, so it would be likely that either James Ward-Prowse or Tomas Soucek depart.
Guido Rodriguez has already been added to the squad, likely playing a backup role to Edson Alvarez in the middle of the park, and Lucas Paqueta has also been known to deputise away from the flanks.
Soler has 63 appearances for PSG since the summer of 2022, notching eight goals and eight assists after leaving Valencia, where his efforts were much more impressive.
Having played 226 times for the La Liga side, having come through the club’s academy, the 27-year-old registered 36 goals and 31 assists, earning himself a £15.4million to PSG [Get French Football News].
The player still has three years left on his contract at the Parc des Princes [PSG], so it is unlikely that the French club will drop their asking price, but it already seems like a decent deal.

While he is primarily a central midfielder, Soler has proven his ability to record goals and assists, which seemed to dry up from West Ham’s midfield in the second half of last season.
The 27-year-old also has 14 international caps for Spain between 2021 and 2023, and while he would not have played under Lopetegui, it could explain his links to the London Stadium this summer.
