West Ham United push to seal Carlos Soler transfer as new details emerge
West Ham United are pushing to secure the signing of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler on a loan-to-buy transfer, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports Germany journalist reported via X on Wednesday (21 August) that the first formal talks have taken place between the two clubs to try and agree a deal for the Spanish international this summer.
Julen Lopetegui’s side are understood to be keen to reach an agreement on an initial temporary deal, with an obligation to make the deal permanent after the loan for a fee of £20million.
The Hammers will continue to explore a deal for the PSG man up until 30 August, when the transfer window slams shut for the summer.
Will Carlos Soler exit PSG amid West Ham United transfer rumours?
Lopetegui and Tim Steidten have already been incredibly busy this summer, but it doesn’t seem as though the Hammers have any plans to slow down their transfer business in the final days of the window.
While additions have been made all over the pitch over the last few months, the Irons’ midfield hasn’t been altered too drastically so far, with Guido Rodriguez the only player added to the side left by David Moyes.
Soler would definitely add a different dimension in the middle of the park and there is a belief that PSG will be willing to let him depart Paris if their transfer terms are met before the summer window slams shut.
Whether or not this loan-to-buy deal mooted by Plettenberg will be what they are looking for remains to be seen. The French giants may be eager to get him off of their books immediately rather than delaying the permanent exit.
Only time will tell, but West Ham seem keen to get this deal over the line sooner rather than later so it could well be one to watch in the coming days.
