West Ham United pull out of Youssef En-Nesyri deal as AC Milan lead race for Sevilla forward

West Ham have pulled out of the race to sign Sevilla forward Youssef En-Nesyri, according to Sean Whetstone.

The 6foot2editor tweeted on 1 September that the Hammers are no longer in the running for the Moroccan international, who has been a long-term target of the club.

He said that has cleared the way for Serie A giants AC Milan to swoop in and sign the 26-year-old before the transfer window slams shut on Friday.

There goes another one

With this latest development on En-Nesyri, that is yet another forward West Ham have missed out on during this transfer window.

The Irons’ technical director Tim Steidten headed out to Brazil this week to try and land a deal for one of three Brazilian strikers, but he couldn’t agree terms for any of Corinthians’ Yuri Alberto, Pedro of Flamengo or Marcos Leonardo, who plays for Santos.

Following the departure of Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta, you would’ve thought the club would have done all it could to ensure they got a new forward through the door at the London Stadium.

West Ham

But with En-Nesyri now out of the picture and looking likely to go to AC Milan, their options are now pretty limited and it seems as though they are going to have to stick with what they’ve got.

It just feels like we may be shooting ourselves in the foot on this one, as we’re just an injury to Michail Antonio away from being left in a difficult position in what will, hopefully, be another successful season in Europe.

In other West Ham news, the club may be forced to sell one player to avoid breaching Premier League rules.
