West Ham United present best offer to sign Jean-Clair Todibo amid Newcastle interest

West Ham United have presented the best official offer to Nice for defender Jean-Clair Todibo, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper reported via its print edition on Friday (2 August, page 35) that Juve remain eager to sign the centre-back this summer.

However, if Nice are to sell the France international, West Ham are the most viable option as the offer they tabled is better than that of Juve’s.

The report adds that Newcastle United have also showed an interest in Todibo, who was previously hailed as “incredible” by coach Francesco Farioli

Jean-Clair Todibo signing would be massive statement of intent

West Ham’s focus over the past week or so has been on attacking targets, with Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville both wanted.

Both those players could yet arrive to effectively conclude the Irons’ transfer business in that area of the field.

It still remains that United want another centre-back, however, and Todibo is clearly a player they have been tracking for a while now.

Gazzetta themselves reported this week (31 July, page 23) that the Hammers had made an improved loan offer for Todibo.

However, Nice will surely only be interested in a permanent exit for the defender, so let’s hope that previous bid from the Irons is considered.

Juventus may well want to sign Todibo, and they would no doubt be high on his list, but they will first have to match West Ham’s offer.

This long-running transfer saga is far from over as we enter the final four weeks of the summer window.
