West Ham United: Pedro medical update emerges as David Moyes makes transfer decision

There is no chance West Ham will sign Pedro as David Moyes isn’t convinced by the Flamengo forward, according to Sean Whetstone.

The 6foot2 editor tweeted on 31 August that the Hammers boss “doesn’t fancy” the 26-year-old and it would be “impossible” for him to complete a medical in time because he is currently still in Brazil.

But he said there is still a “small chance” that the Irons will bring in someone else before the transfer window slams shut on Friday night (1 September).

Frustrating

It’s frustrating to see that West Ham now appear unlikely to bring in a new forward during this window following this latest update on Pedro.

The Irons technical director Tim Steidten headed out to Brazil to have talks with Corinthians over the possibility of signing Yuri Alberto, but the Flamengo forward – as well as Santos’ Marcos Leonardo – were thought to be alternative options.

They have, however, failed to sign any of that trio and are at risk of leaving themselves short up top again this season after selling Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta this summer.

West Ham

The small chance of bringing someone in that Whetstone referred to is probably dependent on whether or not Maxwell Cornet completes his move to Everton.

The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for Juventus midfielder Filip Kostic, but there are a few details to work out if we want to get that deal done before the window closes at 11pm on Friday.

In other West Ham news, the club may be forced to sell one player to avoid breaching Premier League rules.
