West Ham United open to sell 9 players including Vladimir Coufal and James Ward-Prowse
West Ham are potentially open to the sale of nine first-team players before the transfer window shuts on 30 August, according to the Times.
The news outlet reported on 19 August that Vladimir Coufal, Kurt Zouma, Nayef Aguerd, Konstantinos Mavropanos, James Ward-Prowse, Maxwel Cornet and possibly Tomas Soucek, Danny Ings and Michail Antonio can all potentially leave.
Zouma recently had a move to the Middle East fall through due to a failed medical.
West Ham will need to sign replacements for Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek
The club’s potential sale of up to nine first-team players, including key figures like Coufal and Soucek, necessitates strategic replacements due to the critical roles these players fulfil.
Coufal’s probable departure would leave a significant gap at right-back, a position where depth is already thin following Ben Johnson’s exit.
Soucek, a linchpin in midfield, provides both physical presence and goal threat from set, qualities not easily replaced.
Selling this many players could drastically alter the team’s cohesion and squad depth, which is vital for a competitive season.
While financial considerations might push for sales, West Ham cannot afford to let go of nine players without adequate replacements due to the risk of squad imbalance and potential performance dips.

Therefore, a more feasible approach would be to manage three or four sales, reinvesting in one or two quality signings to maintain or enhance the team’s.
In other West Ham news, a winger wanted by the Hammers has been left “shocked” at how he’s been treated by his club and wants to leave ahead of the 30 August deadline.
