West Ham United ones to ‘keep an eye’ on in Kalvin Phillips transfer battle as talks held with Manchester City man – Fabrizio Romano

Fabrizio Romano will be keeping an eye on West Ham in particular in the transfer battle for Manchester City man Kalvin Phillips.

The journalist added that the Hammers have spoken to the midfield ace and are in constant talk with his current club.

The 28-year-old England international has made 31 appearances for the Manchester outfit, 10 of which have come this season.

“I still think that England is the most likely solution for Phillips, but nothing is done yet,” Romano told GIVEMESPORT (22 January). “So it’s important to say the race is still open and he is one of the big names on the market.

“So we have to keep an eye on him till the end. I will keep an eye especially on West Ham, because from what I’m hearing, they are really pushing on a daily basis to make it happen. They are in constant contact with Manchester City. They also spoke to the player.”

Moving on?

It seems almost certain at this stage that Phillips will be leaving Manchester City this month, but a few issues remain unknown.

The first of which involves his destination, with clubs seemingly lining up to secure the services of the England international.

The second involves the form of the transfer, whether it be temporary until the end of the season or a permanent switch.

One certainty is that Phillips can improve the midfield of several clubs, but only if he can rediscover the form that earned him a move to Manchester City in the first place.

West Ham

Sadly, the midfielder has lost his way somewhat following his stellar performances at Leeds United, which were so impressive that they caught the eye of Pep Guardiola.

But for whatever reason, the Manchester City manager has barely given the 28-year-old a look-in at the Etihad, causing major speculation about his future at the club.

In other West Ham news, clubs are queuing up to sign a Hammers international on loan after his recent appearance in the FA Cup.
