West Ham United on verge of Mohammed Kudus transfer, contract agreed
West Ham United are on the verge of completing a blockbuster signing of Mohammed Kudus from Ajax, according to David Ornstein.
The Athletic writer reported on Wednesday (23 August) that Ajax finally looks set to agree on a deal for the Ghana international in a transfer worth £35m up front with a potential £2.56m likely to be paid in add-ons.
Kudus has already agreed to a five-year contract at the London Stadium with the option to extend for an additional year, while the Dutch club have also included a 10% sell-on clause in the deal for the 23-year-old.
The attacking midfielder has long been a target of David Moyes and the Irons and has been interested in a move to the Premier League, having rejected a one-year extension to his deal in the Netherlands, which runs until 2024.
Up and running
From nowhere this summer the Hammers’ transfer window has kicked into action, having spent weeks seeing enquiries and bids rejected they have now started to splash the cash and rebuild their side as they prepare for a year of European football.
Talk of Moyes and those above him at the London Stadium has quickly dissipated and the Irons look like they have secured one of the signings of the summer in Kudus who has been highly valued across the continent.

Both Chelsea and Brighton were interested in the attacking midfielder who managed 11 goals in the Eredivisie last season as well as another four in the Champions League, but West Ham look set to be the side to secure his services.
Kudus will add an extra dimension to Moyes’ side in attack, providing a more consistent goal threat than any of the Hammers’ other options, barring Jarrod Bowen, and will ensure the Irons have cover regardless of whether or not they keep Lucas Paqueta this summer.
Whether he is the last addition this summer or not, the Irons look like they’ve had a successful window.
