West Ham United officials jet out to Greece in brand new transfer update
West Ham officials were joined by scouts from the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool in attendance as Olympiacos faced Fenerbahce on 11 April, according to Tomas Taecke.
The GDP Media journalist reported on 10 April that “almost the entire Premier League” had sent scouts to the game, although there was no mention of which player they might be tracking.
With Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Fulham, Brentford, Bournemouth and Brighton joining the previously-mentioned sides, more than just one player will likely be the focus.
Writing via his X account, Taecke shared: “Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, Man United, West Ham, Aston Villa, Fulham, Brentford, Bournemouth, Brighton. Almost the entire Premier League will send a scout to Olympia on Thursday.”
West Ham join Premier League clubs in Euro scouting mission
The Hammers have been assessing their options ahead of the summer transfer window, with this the latest in a line of transfer links and scouting missions for the officials at the London Stadium under Tim Steidten’s guidance.
It has been reported that a new striker and defender are at the top of the Hammers’ wishlist as they head towards the end of the season already knowing the areas they will look to improve during what could be a turbulent summer.
Former Hammer Frank McAvennie told West Ham Zone that the club’s focus should be on central defenders after the performances of Kurt Zouma and Konstantinos Mavropanos this season as improvements will need to be made.
Meanwhile, it was also suggested that Lucas Paqueta could be leaving the club this summer in a big-money move, meaning a replacement would be required to fill the boots of one of West Ham’s standout stars this season.
