West Ham United now tipped to sign Jordan Henderson after Liverpool transfer news on Thursday

Jordan Henderson is someone who West Ham United could look to sign this summer, according to Jason Cundy and Dean Saunders.

Henderson, 32, has two years left on his contract at Liverpool and there’s been little to suggest that he’s leaving Anfield this summer.

On Thursday (8 June), Liverpool did announce the signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton so there’s a chance Henderson, the club captain, could drop down Jurgen Klopp’s pecking order.

West Ham

Ex-Wales striker Saunders believes that after winning the Europa Conference League, West Ham should be looking to take players from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool this summer with Henderson – and Fabinho – both being mentioned.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday night (7 June, 10:52pm), Saunders said: “Liverpool are going to get rid of some players. [And] Chelsea are. I think West Ham should be sniffing around because Rice is going.”

Cundy interjected to then say: “Henderson, Henderson.”

Saunders then continued: “People like Henderson, people like Fabinho. You know, you’ve got enough money now to tempt them away. They need five or six players. Two strikers, a winger, a midfield player and maybe a full-back. Spend it all on them.”

No chance

Would we take Henderson at West Ham this summer? Absolutely, we would.

He’s a Premier League and Champions League-winning captain with 75 caps for England and 432 top-flight appearances to his name in England.

While the ex-Sunderland midfielder will turn 33 later this month, he’s someone who could add invaluable leadership to the West Ham midfield with Rice set to leave.

However, the chances of getting a deal done have to be low.

Even if Henderson loses his starting spot at Liverpool next season, Klopp will still want him around to help bed in new players and ease the transition the Merseyside club is going through.

We’ll be playing in the same European competition as the Reds next season too so Henderson will no doubt get plenty of Europa League games if he moves or not.

It’s not going to happen. It’s a rubbish suggestion by the talkSPORT hosts, as usual.
