West Ham United now ready bid to sign Alexander Sorloth amid Niclas Fullkrug twist
West Ham United are readying a bid to sign Alexander Sorloth amid growing concerns around the fitness of Niclas Fullkrug, according to the Sunday People.
The newspaper reported via their print edition on 13 October (page 60) that the Hammers sent scouts to watch the Norway international in their 3-0 home win over Slovenia on 10 October.
The former Villareal ace only joined Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window but, this hasn’t stopped West Ham from keeping a close eye on him.
Fullkrug’s lack of availability has been a concern for Julen Lopetegui this term with the Spaniard turning to Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen to lead his attacking line.
West Ham United would benefit from signing a striker in January
Although Fullkrug hasn’t really had a fair run in the Hammers’ team yet due to the injuries he’s sustained, it wouldn’t do the club any harm to add another striker to their ranks.
Granted, Antonio and Danny Ings have both found the back of the net this term but their inconsistency will no doubt prove to be a problem as the season goes on.
The vast majority of West Ham’s transfer window was centred around trying to offload the ageing duo with Sorloth even being mooted as a potential replacement [Marca, page 23, 31 July] for one of them before Fullkrug was brought in.

Their season thus far has been fairly disappointing with the club currently residing at 12th in the table with just two Premier League wins to their name.
Some sales may have to be made for the Hammers to be able to make more moves in January, but, if it benefits their overall performance, a transfer would likely be worthwhile.
