West Ham United now about to sign Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca

Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca is about to sign for West Ham United for around £34million according to Revelo journalist Matteo Moretto.

Gazzetta Dello Sport journalist Alfredo Pedulla suggested (via Twitter) on Friday 22 July that West Ham are in direct contact with Sassuolo to “close” the deal.

It now appears that the Hammers are on the brink of getting their man with Moretto reporting (via Twitter, 22 July) that the 23-year-old striker is about to sign for the Irons.

Striker at last

David Moyes looks to have finally landed a striker to compete with Michail Antonio and give his West Ham side some much-needed depth up front.

Scamacca is without a doubt a statement signing from the club, with the striker wanted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain.

This is a signing that should really excite the London Stadium with the forward the perfect mix between physical presence and goalscoring prowess that Moyes is looking for at the position.

West Ham

He is only 23 and is a regular for Italy’s national side, which is great blend of youth and experience.

The next question for West Ham fans is whether they will be able to add Chelsea striker Armando Broja to their ranks as well.

If they manage to secure Broja and Scamacca then the Irons will be a real threat to the top six next season.

If Moyes can add a left-back and potentially another centre back then this will be a close-to-perfect window for the club.

This is an exciting time to be a West Ham fan.
