West Ham United: Pablo Fornals contract details shared ahead of proposed Real Betis transfer
Pablo Fornals has already agreed terms on an “extensive contract” with Real Betis in the hope of sealing an exit from West Ham before next week’s deadline, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Spanish outlet shared in an update on its website on Saturday [27 January] that talks between Betis and West Ham remain ongoing ahead of the January 31 cut-off point for Spanish sides.
The report adds that Betis are hopeful the deal can be finalised in the coming days, with an initial loan switch that includes a mandatory purchase option the most likely outcome.
Big hit
Most West Ham fans accept that this is the right move for everyone involved. If the club can land a fee for Fornals at the end of the season, that can go towards signing an upgrade.
After bringing in Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City earlier this week, focus is now on offloading a player or two if another is to be signed before the deadline.
Fornals has been a decent servant for West Ham since arriving, but four Premier League starts this season shows where he stands in the pecking order.
The Irons paid Villarreal £24million to sign Fornals [Sky Sports, 14 June], which they will be taking a major hit on one way or another.

Having recently extended the playmaker’s contract by 12 months, at least there is a chance of recouping some of that money from Real Betis.
With the player set on a move, the onus is on Betis and United to come to an agreement on a fee for the end of the campaign.
Even with the days ticking down in the window, this looks like a move that is almost certain to go through.
In other West Ham news, the Irons are reportedly already planning talks to sign an “amazing” player in the summer.
