West Ham United move for Lille midfielder Amadou Onana is very much alive
West Ham United’s move for Lille’s 20-year-old midfielder Amadou Onana is very much alive according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth revealed (via Twitter, 15 July) that the Hammers have tabled a £32.2million bid for the Belgium international.
The Irons are yet to hear back from the Ligue 1 side but Taylor has revealed that a deal is still on the cards.

He told GIVEMESPORT on Saturday 30 July: “100%, I think that bid’s still on the table but, with some of these stories, you think it doesn’t seem to add up.
“We get a bit lost because they have not heard of any response to that offer.
“But it’s a really substantial bid, so I do think that deal is still very much alive.
“As far as I’m aware, that bid hasn’t been accepted or rejected at the moment.”
Priority?
David Moyes has been looking into a move for the Napoli attacking midfielder Piotr Zieliński, but surely a move for Onana seems a more sensible move.
West Ham currently have Declan Rice, Flynn Downes and Tomas Soucek as their more defensive-minded midfield options at present.
Another addition to Moyes’ options in that area would not be a bad move and Onana would be a long-term option for the club to pursue.

With Onana only being 20, there is every chance that he will develop and turn into an asset for the Hammers moving forward.
The Irons have a good amount of attacking midfield options at present and they should probably be looking to target other problem areas of Moyes’ squad.
A left-back and another centre-back have to be on West Ham’s wishlist with Arthur Masuaku looking likely to depart the London Stadium this summer.
The club’s summer business has been superb thus far, it is now time for the Hammers to fine-tune their squad.
