West Ham United move for Jean-Clair Todibo could land Barcelona multi-million windfall
West Ham United’s push to sign Jean-Clair Todibo could wind up landing La Liga giants Barcelona £5.3million (€6.4m), according to Mundo Deportivo.
The report (17 July) suggests that if Jean-Clair Todibo makes his way to London Stadium on a loan deal, Barcelona could receive the aforementioned sum if the Hammers trigger a £26.9million (€32m) option to buy.
This comes hot on the heels of the news that Juventus were set to pull off a last-minute heist to sign the Frenchman (HITC, 17 July).
Is Todibo a sign of West Ham’s defensive plan?
Since Julen Lopetegui took charge at West Ham United, it’s been clear that he has a plan in place. As opposed to facing the same financial restrictions imposed on him at Wolves, he’s making a concerted effort to turn his new club into a side ready to push for Europe again.

After all, we’ve already seen Max Kilman come through the door from Molineux. Plus, it makes sense for Lopetegui to focus his attention on the defence given that West Ham conceded the highest volume of goals in the Premier League outside of the bottom three last season.
Todibo has built-in European experience and based on his past with Barcelona and Nice, we’d say he knows how to function at the highest level. When you consider that there’s still a month remaining until the start of the new campaign, supporters should be excited about what could be to come in the weeks ahead.
