West Ham United ‘might be tempted’ to sign Aaron Ramsdale as player stance emerges – Ben Jacobs

West Ham United might be tempted to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, according to Ben Jacobs.

The journalist shared the verdict despite the Hammers being satisfied with current options Alphonse Areola and Lukasz Fabianski.

In a complete turnaround from last season, Areola has been heavily relied upon in the league, with Fabianski getting minutes in Europe.

“I think that West Ham could be an option for Ramsdale,” Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT. “Even though Areola has had a very good season, he’s in his early 30s, Ramsdale is a bit younger, they might be tempted, and there will definitely be some European interest as well, if Ramsdale does choose to move abroad, but his preference is to stay in the Premier League.

“That’s why I think that something might develop with West Ham, we’ll have to wait and see, of course. 30/31/32 is not necessarily as old compared to a player for a goalkeeper. And that’s why West Ham are kind of happy enough with Areola and Fabianski.”

Will West Ham make a move for Arsenal outcast Aaron Ramsdale?

Areola has been superb for the Hammers this season, with the number one producing a masterclass in the 3-1 win against Everton on Saturday (2 March).

He has been crucial to the club’s success on the pitch in recent times, and the East London outfit would be very foolish to lose him anytime soon.

Fabianski meanwhile has proven to be a more than capable deputy, with the experienced goalkeeper often stepping in for Areola this season when required.

It seems then that London Stadium boss David Moyes has no need for a new shot-stopper, even if Ramsdale looks likely to leave Arsenal in the near future.

Despite falling down the pecking order in North London, the goalkeeper remains in Gareth Southgate’s England thoughts for the time being.

But should David Raya continue to operate as Arsenal’s number one – which does seem very likely – then Ramsdale ought to seek an exit from the Emirates Stadium this summer.

In other West Ham news, Hammers fans have been slammed by Garth Crooks as a “certain” Moyes exit claim is made.
