West Ham United medical update as Tim Steidten works to close Luis Guilherme transfer in person
Luis Guilherme is expected to soon present himself for a medical ahead of a move to West Ham, according to GOAL Brazil.
The outlet reported via their website on 4 June that Hammers technical director Tim Steidten is in Brazil looking to close a deal for the teenage attacker, and is very close to doing so.
He is in advanced negotiations over a move that is expected to cost a total of €30million [£25.5m], with an up-front payment of €23m [£19.6m] and a 20% sell-on clause attached.
There had been fears on Monday that the deal was set to follow that of fellow Brazilian Patricio Bruno’s at Flamengo in collapsing late in the day, but it has since been revived and has moved near to completion despite fears of a late hijack [Nizaar Kinsella, 3 June].
West Ham close to first deal of Julen Lopetegui era
No move can be certain until it is officially confirmed but this one more than most looks to be a precarious one.
Having apparently brought the deal back from the brink of falling through it looks like Steidten has his hands full as he attempts to guide it through the final steps, but he seems to be near to succeeding.
If he gets what certainly appears to be a difficult transfer over the line then he deserves credit, after his job was called into question when it looked like the summer was going to kick off with two moves collapsing.
The medical should be one of the last stages before everything is signed and West Ham can concentrate on securing additional targets for Julen Lopetegui’s official start date on 1 July, so the club will be hoping that doesn’t throw up any unexpected issues.

The Irons are thin in attacking areas and overly-reliant on quality from Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus so it would be a welcome start to the transfer window to secure such a sought-after young talent.
Assuming Guilherme does sign for the club there will be high expectations on him given the trials involved in bringing him in, so Lopetegui will be tasked with integrating the youngster into the side in a way that ensures he can adapt to the Premier League without being overwhelmed by pressure.
In other West Ham news, another attacker is keen to move to the London Stadium amid talks over a transfer.
