West Ham United make Nayef Aguerd transfer decision, exit on cards already
Marseille are the latest club to be interested in signing Nayef Aguerd from West Ham United with Medhi Benatia pushing for the move, according to Lions de L’Atlas.
It is reported that the Moroccan will not be retained by the Irons despite his “remarkable” start to life at the London Stadium before injury issues.
His fellow countryman Benatia is the current sporting director of Marseille and is said to be looking for a new central defender.
The French outlet has suggested that the Ligue 1 side may opt for a loan deal for Aguerd in the summer with an option to buy in a year.
Should West Ham United sell Nayef Aguerd?
The Hammers signed Aguerd in 2022 for a sizable £30million fee in a move from Stade Rennes [BBC].
He had a positive first season in East London as he made over 30 appearances for the club as they won the Europa Conference League.
Although David Moyes’ side struggled at times in the Premier League the end of the campaign was worth that hardship.
After a superb World Cup campaign with Morocco, the centre-back’s stock seemed to have risen but he has struggled with injury since.

This season he has featured in 21 Premier League starts with under 2000 minutes despite the Hammers having played 35 times.
An ankle injury is currently keeping him out and could see him miss the remaining games of the campaign.
With Konstantinos Mavropanos and Kurt Zouma forming a useful partnership, there is no guarantee of an instant return for Aguerd.
A loan doesn’t make much sense from West Ham’s perspective but a sale for a fee close to £30m could benefit them.
