West Ham United make move for player Cristiano Ronaldo hailed ‘phenomenal’

West Ham United have asked about signing RB Leipzig forward Andre Silva, according to TBR Football.

The news outlet reported on Tuesday (14 January) that the Portuguese international is the latest transfer target at the London Stadium after failing in a bid to sign Aston Villa star Jhon Duran [Claret & Hugh].

Silva has admirers in East London, going as far back as 2021 under now Everton boss David Moyes, and could be available for a January transfer after finding himself on the fringes in Leipzig.

Graham Potter is scrambling for options to lead his line at West Ham and the desperation is starting to sink in.

The Irons are fortunate the injury crisis occurred during the January transfer window, but despite the plethora of options, none seem too eager to move to East London.

After news emerged that Aston Villa rejected an offer for Duran, names appeared left, right, and centre to be linked with a move to West Ham.

However, Potter must remain realistic in the Hammers’ current situation, and while Silva has only managed one Bundesliga goal in eight outings for Leipzig, the player Cristiano Ronaldo once dubbed “phenomenal” is still there (Bundesliga, 31 May 2023).

At 29, Silva has a lot to offer, and given the current climate of the January market, Potter may be left with no other choice than to reignite a move for the ex-Eintracht Frankfurt forward.
