West Ham United make late January bid for ‘excellent’ Inter Milan winger Valentin Carboni
West Ham have had a late £9.4million January transfer bid for Inter Milan winger Valentin Carboni, who is on loan at Monza, immediately turned down, according to Tuttomercato.
The Italian news outlet reported on 25 January that the winger’s “excellent” performances so far this season have attracted interest from outside of Italy after he has provided five goal contributions so far this season.
Those contributions have come in the form of two goals and three assists across 15 appearances in his first full season in senior football, with the 19-year-old having joined on loan from Inter in the summer.
An exciting deal
If West Ham were to return with another bid for Carboni, the deal would surely not be one for an immediate impact at the London Stadium, given his lack of experience and growth in senior football, so another loan deal could be on the cards.
He probably needs another full season of senior football before he would be ready to step up into the Premier League, as he will need to acclimatise to the pace and physicality of the English game, as well as boost his productivity in front of goal.
However, Carboni is described by Tuttomercato as having an excellent season so far, and if he continues the upward trajectory his development has been on so far in his career, he could become an exciting player in a couple of years.

The 19-year-old has been capped by Argentina at Under-20 level, with hopes high for his eventual development both in his home country and in Italy. Inter rejecting a £9.8million bid for him shows how highly-rated the young winger is by the Italian giants.
In other West Ham news, whispers have emerged about a possible £18million deal.
