West Ham United make early Nayef Aguerd transfer decision at London Stadium
West Ham United have given the green light for Nayef Aguerd to leave the London Stadium, according to Darren Witcoop.
Writing via the print edition of the Sunday People (page 56, 9 June), Witcoop reported that the Morocco international is primed to leave the club.
Aguerd joined the Hammers for a fee of £30million from Rennes in 2022, but could now leave just two years into his five-year deal.
West Ham are hoping to recoup the original fee, with Ligue 1 outfit Lyon and several Saudi Arabian sides interested in the 28-year-old.
Will Nayef Aguerd accept a move away from West Ham United and the London Stadium?
Aguerd has failed to live up to expectations and it is no surprise that the Hammers are keen to get their money back for the centre-back.
This would be the perfect summer to sell him because the longer they wait, the more his value will diminish as he gets older and time on his contract runs down.
In addition, with the Julen Lopetegui era set to get underway, it makes sense to shake things up defensively and start afresh under the Argentinian.
The addition of Aguerd was seen as quite the coup from the East London outfit and it is a shame for the club that the big-money signing hasn’t worked out as originally planned.
He struggled for both form and fitness under David Moyes and there are no guarantees that he will improve under a new manager.
As a result, now would be the best time to move him on and look to reinvest into a different defender.

With Saudi Arabain clubs interested there is a good chance that the Hammers could recoup most of the £30million they paid, but it remains to be seen if Aguerd would accept a move away.
