West Ham United make decision on Armando Broja Deadline Day transfer amid David Ornstein Chelsea stance update
West Ham United will not return to the table to sign Armando Broja on loan despite Chelsea changing their stance for a Deadline Day deal.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (1 February), The Athletic journalist David Ornstein reports that the Blues are now open to a straight loan deal for the Albania international striker having previously only been open to a permanent deal or a loan with an obligation to buy.
But despite the change in stance late in the window, West Ham won’t make a move to sign Broja before the 11pm deadline even though David Moyes has been a long-term admirer according to the Standard.
Poor
West Ham need a striker and they need attacking reinforcements, so this deal for Broja would surely be the perfect bit of business to help Moyes and the squad.
Danny Ings has no long-term future at the club while Michail Antonio is ageing and injured while Said Benrahma, Maxwel Cornet and Pablo Fornals are all potentially leaving before the deadline at 11pm.
That means a new forward is even more necessary with Lucas Paqueta suffering with injury and Jarrod Bowen struggling with fitness on occasions too, and Broja is someone the manager is a massive fan of.

There are no deals for attackers seemingly in the pipeline either which is a shame, so the Broja deal makes even more sense on paper. Financially it could obviously be an issue, but with exits hinted at you’d expect money to be coming in.
Fans would be excited and he would suit the style of the team while playing regularly, and it could position the club for a summer deal too just like Kalvin Phillips. Hopefully Moyes and Tim Steidten have something up their sleeves.
