West Ham United make decision on Alexander Sorloth clause ahead of new transfer
West Ham United can face the release clause of £32million in their push to sign Villarreal striker Alexander Sorloth, according to Superdeporte.
The newspaper has reported in its print edition [17 July, pg 11] that West Ham are eager to make a move for the Norway international, who has been on fire since arriving at Villarreal last summer.
It is said that West Ham can justify the approach and large cost due to the lack of goals from their current strikers last season.
West Ham ready Alexander Sorloth transfer
At this point in his career, Sorloth has really refined his game throughout the last few years.
Alas, while he did have some joy with Trabzonspor and Real Sociedad, it’s at Villarreal where he’s really been able to spread his wings.
Sorloth moved with freedom and confidence last season and he played an instrumental role in guiding Villarreal to eighth place in the table. Of course, Premier League fans are probably most familiar with his work at Crystal Palace, which wasn’t exactly a memorable stint for the Norwegian.

The good news is that he’s improved a great deal since then. Plus, with West Ham sorely lacking in natural goalscoring strikers, there’s every chance Sorloth will be able to thrive off of great service around him.
Michail Antonio is wanted by Saudi and MLS clubs [Athletic, 15 May] and Danny Ings could also leave before the end of August.
There’s a long way to go if the club want to get this over the line. Now, it comes down to whether or not they’re willing to pull out the big bucks.
In other West Ham news, the club’s pursuit of a highly-touted Manchester United defender continues.
