West Ham United make contact over transfer move for AZ Alkmaar midfielder Tijjani Reijnders
West Ham United have made contact with AZ Alkmaar over the signing of Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, according to Gianluigi Longari.
The Hammers are set to lose captain Declan Rice to Arsenal in a £105m deal, meaning reinforcements in the middle of the park are needed for the new season.
And the club have made their move for 24-year-old Reijnders according to reports in Italy, as they look to compete with AC Milan for the player’s signature.
“In addition to Milan, which has been testing the ground for some time with Az Alkmaar for Tijjani Reijnders, there is no shortage of luxury alternatives for the Dutch midfielder,” he wrote (30 June).
“According to what has been learned from Sportitalia, in fact, there would be other clubs interested above all by the Premier League.
“In particular, in the last few days, there has allegedly been an in-depth poll by West Ham.”
Talented
Reijnders isn’t someone who will be widely known by many fans, but anyone who watches Dutch football will know what a talent he is.
In fact, anyone who watched the Europa Conference League semi-final clash against them will remember him as he scored against us in the first leg.
That was one of seven goals and 11 assists that he registered in all competitions during the season, and he could be an excellent addition to the midfield as we look to replace Rice.

His passing, dribbling and ability to break the lines is something that would add to the squad, and he would be an ideal understudy for Lucas Paqueta in a more offensive midfield role.
There is plenty of business to be done this summer and this is the type of signing the club have had great success with in the past, so it’s one to keep an eye on.
In other West Ham news, club could face “huge” dilemma this summer with star man tipped for exit.
