West Ham United make approach to sign Goncalo Borges as £13m Porto decision made
West Ham have made an enquiry to sign Porto winger Goncalo Borges, according to The Sunday Mirror.
On page 54 of the newspaper’s print edition on 20 August, it reported that the Primeira Liga club have placed a £13million price tag on the 22-year-old and are willing to listen to offers for him.
The Sunday Mirror claims fellow Premier League side Everton are interested in the Portuguese forward, while Primeira Liga outfit Braga are also monitoring his situation.

Unconvincing
This feels like a bit of a strange transfer for West Ham to be linked with due to the lack of first-team experience Borges has undertaken.
Despite being 22, the winger has only made 23 appearances for Porto, while he has played 78 times for the club’s B team in the second division [Transfermarkt].
Borges played in 10 Primeira Liga matches for the first team last season and failed to register a goal or an assist, so it seems strange that Premier League sides are looking to sign him.

Everton are perhaps not a great club to follow in the transfer market this summer either, as they are operating on a tight budget and could be drawn into another relegation battle.
There isn’t too much going in Borges’ favour at the moment in time to suggest we should be spending £13million on a player that his club aren’t too interested in providing with many minutes and are open to selling.
