West Ham United make approach to sign Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners
West Ham have approached Atalanta with an enquiry about midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, according to Calcio Atalanta.
The Italian news outlet reported on 8 August that West Ham are looking for a new player who can alternate in the midfield with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.
It is understood that “in the last few hours” contact had been made by the Irons in a bid to potentially sign Netherlands international Koopmeiners.

However, Calcio Atalanta says it will be a tough deal for the Hammers to pull off.
Get it done
Come on, West Ham. You let us down with the Amadou Onana deal with the Belgium midfielder heading to Goodison Park instead of the London Stadium.
Now it’s time to make amends and sign a seriously good midfielder instead of Onana.
Atalanta are one of the teams to watch on the continent.
Their style of play is enthralling and their recruitment is absolutely top-notch.
They’re easily one of the best teams in Italy.

Koopmeiners is a deep-lying midfielder who loves to dictate play from the base of the midfield and also take set-pieces.
He’s a specialist at penalties and free-kicks, leading to him scoring four goals and supplied four assists in 43 appearances across all competitions for Atalanta last season in what was his debut year in Bergamo.
The ex-AZ Alkmaar midfielder is also a regular for the Netherlands national team now, playing all four of their Nations League games at the end of last term.
Calcio Atalanta says it’ll be hard for West Ham to complete the signing of the Dutch playmaker but there’s no harm in trying, surely?
