West Ham United make £30m bid for Igor Jesus with new transfer on cards

West Ham United have signalled a £30million offer for Botafogo striker Igor Jesus, according to GE Globo.

The Brazilian outlet reported via its website on 3 November that an agent representing the Irons contacted Botafogo owner John Textor to share the offer.

However, the Brazilian club have no plans to respond to the proposal until it is made official and want to wait until the end of their season to make a decision.

West Ham United signal offer for Igor Jesus transfer

West Ham evidently need more firepower in attack, with all of their three strikers in their 30s, so this move makes perfect sense.

Michail Antonio and Danny Ings have scored only two goals between them across all competitions, while summer signing Niclas Fullkrug has been restricted to just 63 minutes of Premier League action due to injury.

Julen Lopetegui has, therefore, set his eyes on signing a new striker in January (The Times) as he looks to turn things around at the London Stadium.

Botafogo waiting until the end of the season to decide is not particularly bad news for the Hammers as the Brazilian campaign ends in December, just in time for the winter transfer window.

Jesus has grabbed eight goals and three assists in 22 games since joining the Rio-based club in July, leading them to the Copa Libertadores final and top of the Serie A table. He also made his senior debut for Brazil last month.

Meanwhile, there have been suggestions that West Ham’s interest in the striker could lead to Lucas Paqueta heading in the other direction in a shock swap deal (The Sun). That, though, is unlikely.
