West Ham United look at Deadline Day transfer for Ismaila Sarr
West Ham are looking at a deadline-day deal for Marseille winger Ismaila Sarr in an attempt to bolster their attacking options, according to Graeme Bailey.
The HITC journalist reported on 1 February that the Hammers were interested in signing Sarr from Watford before his move to France, and will renew their interest before the end of the window.
It is said that exits for Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma will leave space for David Moyes to bring new additions to his team, and with Sarr now available after Senegal crashed out of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Premier League proven
The long-standing interest in Sarr will have come following his spell with Warford in the Premier League where he frequently stood out as one of the best and most important players on that side.
Following their relegation to the Championship, plenty of interest died down, although the Hammers remained one with Sarr on their radar, despite a dip in form in the second division.
An eventual move to Marseille has not paid off, with the winger making just eight starts in Ligue 1 since his transfer in the summer window, making him almost immediately available for a move back to England.
His time in the Premier League will likely make this deal more appealing to Moyes, who prefers his targets to have prior experience in England to aid the transition into his team when it can otherwise prove difficult.
Having scored two goals and provided one assist at AFCON, he has shown the level of his game is still high in the right team, and West Ham will hope to be that team.
In other West Ham news, one player is now expected to undergo a medical elsewhere.
