West Ham United ‘listen to offers’ as Al Hilal approach winger

West Ham United are prepared to sanction the sale of winger Luis Guilherme to Al Hilal, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports journalist reported via Sky Sports’ transfer blog on Monday [20 January, 10:21am] that the Irons are “willing to listen to offers” for the forward after Al Hilal explored the conditions for a potential deal.

Guilherme is free to leave the London Stadium during the winter transfer window as per Fabrizio Romano (17 January), but despite wanting to recoup the £25million outlay spent on his services, West Ham are expected to make a £10m loss through the sale [Ben Jacobs].

West Ham United to sell Luis Guilherme to Al Hilal

Although the 18-year-old remains a high-potential asset in East London, it is clear he will not be granted the game time he needs to improve.

It is a shame as his summer acquisition from Palmeiras sparked plenty of excitement among the West Ham faithful, but he has been limited to only five appearances across all competitions.

And with Graham Potter still having to fend off the threat of a relegation battle amid the ruins of the Julen Lopetegui era, his sale is a necessary sacrifice to fund a much-needed squad rebuild.

The Irons tried and failed in a bid to sign Aston Villa star Jhon Duran for a second time [Claret & Hugh], and will continue to be outbid for their top targets while the threat of PSR sanctions linger around the East London outfit.

Therefore, Guilherme stands to be one of the most valuable assets within the squad whose services are no longer required at the London Stadium.

However, the Brazilian showcased his ambition to leave his homeland for the Premier League at such a tender age – with that in mind, it is hard to envision a move to Saudi Arabia will appeal.
