West Ham United left ‘in the dark’ after brand new Nayef Aguerd transfer update

West Ham United have been left “in the dark” about the future of exit-linked Nayef Aguerd, according to Sean Whetstone.

Reporting via his West Ham Football X account (29 August) Whetstone stated that despite there being plenty of offers for the defender, he seems to be “holding out” for a bigger move.

The report also outlines that Hammers currently have around £15million left in amortisation on their books with that being the minimum amount they’d accept for Aguerd’s exit.

Nayef Aguerd needs to exit West Ham United before 30 August

Despite only being bought by the Irons in 2022 for a fee worth around £30million, Aguerd seemingly no longer has a future at the London Stadium.

This comes after a season of defensive turmoil at the club which saw the Hammers earn the fourth-worst defensive record in the Premier League with only the three relegated teams finishing below them.

Not only did this spark worry among Julen Lopetegui’s camp but outlined to Tim Stediten which area of the team needed the most bolstering. Hence why, Max Kilman, among others, has been welcomed to the club [BBC, 24 August, 17:55].

Indeed, Aguerd isn’t the one solely to blame for the Hammers’ poor defensive record but his partner in crime Kurt Zouma, has also found himself with one foot out of the exit door.

Despite being the club’s captain, Zouma is set to join Al-Orobah on a season-long loan which will see out the remainder of his contract, which is something that Frank McAvennie urged the Hammers to do.

In other West Ham news, Southampton are interested in signing Maxwel Cornet after his failed move.
