West Ham United defender Konstantinos Mavropanos is considering leaving the London Stadium during the summer transfer window, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Italian outlet reported on its website on Tuesday (2 April) that the Greek centre-back is considering ending his Irons career after a single season amid transfer interest from Serie A giants Inter Milan and Roma.

Mavropanos joined the ranks at the London Stadium from Stuttgart for a reported £million in the summer transfer window and has been a regular fixture in David Moyes' side this term despite a few shaky moments at the back.

Will Konstantinos Mavropanos transfer away from West Ham United this summer?

While West Ham supporters will be divided over Mavropanos given his performances so far this season, Moyes' side are not in a position where they can allow the Greek international to leave as they have very little depth in defence.

Both Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd have been linked with moves away from the London Stadium this summer and if Mavropanos was to leave as well, it would leave the Hammers boss with Angelo Ogbonna as his only real centre-back option.

The Hammers handed the Greek defender a lengthy contract because they view him as a long-term option at the heart of the defence. It seems unlikely Moyes or those above him in East London would be willing to let Mavropanos walk away after a year.

Moyes' priority heading into the summer transfer window has to be adding some much-needed depth out wide and up front as West Ham are still missing a 20-goal-a-season centre-forward that every top-half club needs.

Bowen has impressed, but he isn't a natural striker and has been streaky throughout his career. It would be a shame if Moyes had to prioritise another defender ahead of a striker this summer.
