West Ham United keen on Scott McTominay amid £59.4m transfer development at Manchester United

Scott McTominay is a wanted man at Manchester United and West Ham are among the clubs keen on signing him, according to 90min.

The news outlet reported on 19 August that because the Red Devils are closing in on the £59.4million signing of Casemiro from Real Madrid, 25-year-old McTominay is going to drop down Erik ten Hag’s midfield pecking order.

It is understood that with Casemiro’s move edging closer, Man United “have been inundated with interest in the Scottish international” and David Moyes is reportedly an admirer of his fellow countryman, who’s more likely to move on loan instead of permanently.

Do we need him?

McTominay is a powerhouse of a midfielder.

Despite all the big names that have graced – or disgraced – Old Trafford over the last few years – McTominay has been one of the better players Man United have had in their so-called dark years.

He might not be widely-adored by Man United fans but he’s more than good enough for a team like West Ham.

But do we need him?

Moyes has Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek as his main central options and away from them he has Flynn Downes and Conor Coventry.

McTominay isn’t better than Rice and while you could argue he’s better than Soucek, he’s probably more similar to Rice as a midfield player.

However, the Scotland international has 122 games of Premier League experience, 34 senior caps and has played in one of the highest-pressure clubs in the world.

West Ham

If he’s available and if he can be signed for a decent price, we’d take him.

However, 90min claim that a loan deal is more likely and if that’s the case, we’re not interested.
