West Ham United: Jonathan Rowe deal on the cards in late January transfer at the London Stadium
West Ham could make their move for Norwich winger Jonathan Rowe in a deadline-busting January transfer deal if they cannot secure deals for Jota or Ibrahim Osman, according to Alex Crook.
The talkSPORT journalist shared on 29 January that, despite there being plenty of interest in Rowe from the Premier League, the Hammers could be the ones to make a move.
Jota and Osman were named as the first two targets on the Hammers’ radar, but in the event that neither deal can be agreed to, Rowe is the next in line at the London Stadium.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [29 January, 12:26], Crook shared: “One name that fell in my lap at the weekend was the Norwich player Jonathan Rowe. Lots of Premier League interest in him. If they can’t get their first two targets, West Ham may well make a move.”
He might be the best option
Despite being third-placed on West Ham’s shortlist of wingers as we enter the closing stages of the transfer window, Rowe might be the best of them all in terms of his performances so far this season.
The 20-year-old has 12 goals and two assists to his name in 27 games so far in the Championship, in what has been a fantastic season for him and has generated plenty of interest in his signature this month.
Rowe is English, so his arrival at the London Stadium would contribute toward the homegrown quota that the Hammers must meet for their Europa League squads, and David Moyes famously prefers to sign homegrown players who could instantly adapt to his squad.

With the move for Jota looking complicated due to tax issues, and plenty of uncertainty at the club surrounding the deal for Osman, Rowe may present the best option for West Ham if they insist on bringing in a new winger before the deadline.
