West Ham United inform Danny Ings and Maxwel Cornet of transfer decision on deadline day

West Ham have told Danny Ings and Maxwel Cornet that they can leave the club on deadline day, according to TEAMtalk.

The publication reported on its website on Friday (1 September) that fellow Premier League side Everton have been offered the chance to sign the duo.

Ings only joined West Ham from Aston Villa in the January transfer window, with Cornet joining from Burnley last summer.

“Everton have been offered the chance to sign unwanted West Ham United duo Maxwel Cornet and Danny Ings, TEAMtalk understands.

“The Hammers have told both players they can leave the club on deadline day, despite only being at the London Stadium for a short period of time.”

Surplus to requirements

In what is a bizarre set of circumstances, it seems that both Ings and Cornet are surplus to requirements at West Ham.

Ings arrived earlier this year with plenty of Premier League goals and experience to his name, much to the delight and excitement of Hammers fans.

But he has been a real letdown at the London Stadium, with the former Burnley and Southampton man scoring just three times from 24 appearances.

Cornet meanwhile joined from the Clarets last summer after an impressive season at Turf Moor, but injuries have hampered his time in East London so far, with the winger yet to score from his 22 appearances for the club.

Despite their struggles, there is every chance that they could thrive under Sean Dyche at Goodison Park over the coming months.

But it remains to be seen if David Moyes will let the pair leave, particularly given how he will need a big squad when the Europa League gets underway.

In other West Ham news, Moyes has shared a Hammers transfer update as the deadline approaches.
