West Ham United ‘in the spotlight’ to sign Youssef En-Nesyri after what Julen Lopetegui said
West Ham United are “in the spotlight” to sign Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri, according to Diario AS.
The print edition of the Spanish news outlet on Sunday (page 38, 2 June) reported that Sevilla are considering selling En-Nesyri to help ease some of the club’s financial concerns.
The striker has been a long-term target for West Ham, with their decision to appoint ex-Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui fueling their interest further.
Lopetegui once said of En-Nesyri, “He is young, he works very well and has ambition.”
West Ham United more likely to sign Youssef En-Nesyri under Julen Lopetegui
This looks like an incredibly simple transfer for the club to complete.
And considering all their recent struggles in the market, the Hammers could use a straightforward deal.
When it comes to En-Nesyri, it doesn’t get much more straightforward. Firstly, from Sevilla’s perspective, the club need to sell the player.
They are therefore likely to accept a lower offer rather than holding out for more money.
In terms of club-to-club negotiations, there shouldn’t be too many issues, and when it comes to personal terms, that part of the deal should be even easier to get done.
En-Nesyri has a previous relationship with Lopetegui, which could attract him to the London Stadium.
In addition, the forward is 27, and this could be the perfect opportunity for him to make a switch to the Premier League.

He is a proven goalscorer with an international track record who is right there for the taking. If the Hammers miss out on this deal, there will be questions to answer.
In other West Ham news, the club are in a hunt to sign a £25million-rated midfielder.
