West Ham United in advanced talks to sign Lucas Paqueta amid Lanzini and Benrahma concerns
West Ham are in advanced talks over a deal to sign Lyon attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported via their website on Wednesday (24 August) that a bid worth £33.7million has been tabled for the 24-year-old Brazil international, who’s been strongly linked with a move away from Lyon this summer and is said to be on Arsenal’s radar.
It is understood that West Ham are holding talks in London on Wednesday as David Moyes looks to continue bolstering his squad.
Quality
West Ham have done some good business so far this summer but our side still feels stale and easy to predict.
There are plenty of areas that could do with upgrades and the attacking midfield position is one of them.
According to The Times, there are concerns at the London Stadium regarding Said Benrahma and Manuel Lanzini, two players who’ve been very inconsistent in their time at the club.
Both of them played on Sunday (21 August) as we lost 2-0 to Brighton and neither of them did well.
Paqueta is a 24-year-old Brazil international with extensive experience of playing in top European leagues, European competitions and national tournaments.

The 2019 Copa America winner would be an upgrade on Lanzini and Benrahma.
Lanzini is approaching 30 now while Benrahma, 27, is one of those players who’ll play a stormer one game but then spend nine games being a waste of a shirt.
It remains to be seen whether we can sign a player of Paqueta’s ilk or whether this is just more of the same from West Ham.
We’re sick of seeing the club talking about signing these players only for nothing to happen.
Are we aiming too high? Or are the club just lowballing offers instead of paying what they can actually afford and what their targets are actually worth?
