West Ham United in advanced talks to complete Aaron Wan-Bissaka deal from Manchester United

West Ham are now in advanced talks with Manchester United over a deal to sign defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to talkSPORT.

In an update on the outlet’s website on 29 July (7.04pm) it was reported that the Irons are ready to pay over £10million for the former Crystal Palace man but a compromise was expected to mean they don’t have to meet the £17.5m asking price at Old Trafford.

INEOS need to move the 26-year-old on so they can complete the signing of Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, with an agreement in principle said to be close there.

The Moroccan was recently close to a London Stadium move but the deal fell through [Florian Plettenberg, 26 July] and now looks set to push Manchester United into a reduced-fee sale of Wan-Bissaka.

If all parties are now on board and this signing goes through it should provide a satisfactory outcome on all sides.

Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten have been after a new right-back since failing to convince Ben Johnson to stay, and in Wan-Bissaka they would have a potential new starter over Vladimir Coufal as well.

The Englishman is into the final year of his contract and the Old Trafford hierarchy appear to have no interest in extending him [Dharmesh Sheth, 2 July], so a smaller fee to the Irons will help save money for signings elsewhere.

Kyle Walker-Peters and Wan-Bissaka have been the two primary options at right-back for the Hammers during the window.

While the sale of Flynn Downes to the Saints apparently did nothing to shift their willingness to let the defender move the other way [Sheth, 20 July] it looks like the Irons’ move for Bayern Munich’s Mazraoui has got things rolling towards a right-back finally arriving in East London.

In other West Ham news, an “absolutely outstanding” ace has made a decision on joining the Hammers.
