West Ham United immediately rejected by Edin Terzic in new manager approach

Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic “immediately” rejected an approach from West Ham United to replace David Moyes, according to Sport Bild.

The report on 15 May reveals that the German views the move to the Hammers as “a step backwards”.

Additionally, Terzic did not want to be distracted ahead of Dortmund’s upcoming Champions League final clash with Real Madrid at Wembley on 1 June.

Edin Terzic will not be replacing David Moyes at West Ham United

It was an ambitious move for West Ham to try and appoint a manager who has just led his side to a Champions League final.

Even more so than the attempt made to land Sporting CP head coach Ruben Amorim, this approach was always likely to end in rejection.

Still, it was worth the Hammers’ while to try, given Terzic’s position at Dortmund has not always been so secure this season and he has previously worked at the club.

The German club’s surprise run to the Champions League final has papered over the cracks of a disappointing domestic campaign in which Dortmund are guaranteed to finish fifth in the Bundesliga, 27 points adrift of first-time champions Bayer Leverkusen.

David Moyes will be remembered fondly by West Ham supporters.

In the absence of the appointment of Terzic, Julen Lopetegui remains all but certain to take over from Moyes when the Scot steps down after his final game in charge at Manchester City on 19 May.

In other West Ham news, Jarrod Bowen has been tipped to stay at the club after what he did.
