West Ham United have immediate PSR worries after Kurt Zouma transfer twist
West Ham United have immediate PSR worries after a twist in Kurt Zouma’s transfer to Shabab Al-Ahli, according to Martin Samuels.
The Times journalist reported on Thursday (15 August) that the failure to confirm the Frenchman’s exit may impact the Hammers’ calculations when it comes to profit and sustainability rules this season.
Zouma had appeared to be set to complete a move to the UAE club, but he failed his medical which means that Julen Lopetegui’s club have been left with his high wages on their bill.
The defender could still exit the London Stadium before the transfer window slams shut at the end of August, with reports suggesting the Hammers are looking for alternative solutions to his situation [Dharmesh Sheth, 15 August].
Will Kurt Zouma exit West Ham after summer transfer collapse?
It is imperative that the Hammers find a permanent solution for Zouma before the transfer window slams shut as failing to move him this summer could impact Lopetegui’s side in a number of ways off and on the field.
The Irons cannot breach PSR. If they do, they will risk being hit with a point deduction that could potentially derail their season and mean that they have spent heavily and backed Lopetegui for absolutely no reason.
Zouma appears to be willing to leave East London and while it remains to be seen what other clubs are interested in his signature, there will almost certainly be teams around the world interested in signing a former Chelsea man.

If not, terminating his contract remains an option. If some sort of agreement can be reached between the player and club, it will stop the Irons from having to fork out a big fee each and every week for him to watch on from the bench.
Hopefully, a solution can be found sooner rather than later that suits everyone involved so that West Ham don’t spend the whole season worrying about a potential breach and point deduction.
