West Ham United have gaze on £10m-rated Bologna defender Arthur Theate
West Ham are eyeing a move for Bologna defender Arthur Theate as a £10million deal that “could take off” according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.
Theate, 22, has made 31 appearances this season and has been capped by Belgium twice.
The Italian news outlet reported on Friday [27 May] that West Ham have their “gaze” set on the 22-year-old.

The report also suggested that there has been “some tension” between Theate and Bologna boss Siniša Mihajlović.
Defence a priority
Strengthening his defence has to be a priority for David Moyes at the start of his summer overhaul.
West Ham’s awful second-half against Brighton showed the vulnerability and lack of depth the Irons have in defensive areas.
Craig Dawson has been immense this season, but the performance against Brighton was one step too far for the centre half.
Moyes has asked his defenders to feature too regularly and has potentially overplayed them at times.

Theate looks an interesting option that could be used as a good squad rotation player for Moyes.
At 22, the defender has time to develop and could become a good asset for the club
At £10million, it is not an outrageous price for Hammers to have to fork out for a young centre half with international experience.
The Hammers boss has a huge summer to rejuvenate his squad into one that is capable of challenging for the top six year in and year out.
The West Ham boss will not want to miss out on the Europa League again next season.
