West Ham United have £10.8m bid rejected for Hans Vanaken
West Ham United have had a fresh £10.8m bid rejected for Belgium international Hans Vanaken, according to a report by the Daily Mail.
The Hammers have made the Club Brugge ace their priority target for the remainder of the summer window, with David Moyes keen to add depth and goals to his midfield options ahead of the deadline next week.
But after Fabrizio Romano shared that the club had a new bid rejected on Tuesday [August 23], the Mail have claimed the bid was worth more than initially claimed although it was still turned down.

Romano stated that the bid was worth €11m (£9.2m) plus add-ons, but the Mail say those add-ons were worth a further £1.6m, with Brugge adamant they won’t sell the 30-year-old for so little so close to the deadline.
The player has already publicly asked to be allowed to leave for West Ham, with 90min reporting that Brugge want around €20m (£16.8m) to do business having laughed off the club’s initial bid of £8.4m.
Get it done
Vanaken is a proven midfield goalscorer, with double digit goal returns in each of the last 11 seasons of his professional career at club level.
But at 30 it’s understandable that there is some concern about bringing him in for a big fee and with the player’s wish to join, there is confidence that a fee can be agreed with a compromise found.
However at this stage of the window, with just eight days remaining, there isn’t much time and the closer we get to the deadline the less likely Brugge are to cave in to demands because it will be harder for them to find a replacement.
West Ham aren’t the richest club in the land but £5m is peanuts these days, and if it gets Moyes closer to the squad that he wants to have for the new season then the club must pull the trigger and get it done.
With three defeats from three games reinforcements are needed quickly, so just get it done because nobody will care about the fee if he performs.
