West Ham United: Filip Kostic tempted to move to the London Stadium

West Ham United have been handed a major boost in their move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic, with the Serbian now tempted by a move to the London Stadium according to The Evening Standard.

According to Gazzetta journalist Alfredo Pedulla (via Twitter, 2 August), West Ham are waiting on a response from Kostic and Frankfurt, with Juventus also pushing to sign the 29-year-old.

The Daily Mail suggested (2 August) that West Ham could move on to other targets after growing frustrated with their attempts to sign the Serbian.

However, it appears there has been a change of heart from Kostic, with The Standard claiming (2 August) that he is now tempted by a move to the London Stadium and that the Hammers will continue to monitor the situation as the window progresses.

Back and forth

The Kostic transfer saga is just typical West Ham, one minute he’s signing, and the next the deal is off.

It must be entertaining as well as frustrating for the club and fans to deal with.

However, there could be a chance of the Hammers securing a deal for the Serbian wing-back.

He’s clearly interested in a move to the Premier League, but also has the prospect of Champions League football should he stay at Frankfurt or move to another European club such as Juventus.

West Ham are progressing in moves for Maxwel Cornet and Amadou Onana and that could well be an indication to Kostic of where the club’s current ambitions lay.

At 29, his next move will likely be the last big move of his career and the chance to ply his trade in the Premier League could well be too good to turn down.

Let’s hope this latest update isn’t followed by more bad news in the coming hours and days.

With West Ham’s move for Maxwel Cornet progressing well, it will be interesting to see if the club progress in a move for Kostic as well considering they play very similar positions.

Things are really starting to heat up now on the transfer front.
