West Ham United favourites to sign Tammy Abraham amid £21.2m Roma exit news

West Ham United are favourites to sign Roma striker Tammy Abraham in the final two weeks of the summer transfer window, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper reported on Saturday (17 August, page 13) that Roma are looking to sell players before the deadline passes on 30 August and ex-Chelsea forward Abraham, 26, is someone they are hopeful of cashing in on.

The London Stadium is dubbed as “the most popular destination” for the 11-time England international, who’s also wanted by AC Milan and clubs in the Middle East.

Gazzetta dello Sport adds that Roma want £21.2million to sell him.

Who has left West Ham United in summer transfer window?

West Ham have done a lot of business since the end of last season, starting at the top with David Moyes leaving and Julen Lopetegui being hired to replace him.

Thilo Kehrer, Nathan Trott, Said Benrahma and Flynn Downes have also left permanently for transfer fees while Ben Johnson, Divin Mubama and Angelo Ogbonna all bid their farewells to the Irons when their contracts expires.

As for incoming, it’s hard to see how Abraham fits now that the Hammers have Niclas Fullkrug.

The Germany striker has joined from Borussia Dortmund, meaning Lopetegui has him, Michail Antonio and Danny Ings to choose from up front while Jarrod Bowen can also move into a central striker role.

Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham, Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Guido Rodriguez, Jean-Clair Todibo and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have also joined the club so we don’t see why a move for Abraham would be necessary and this report in Italy could be there to try and get AC Milan to up their bid for the Roma striker.

In other West Ham news, Karren Brady has revealed the first thing Fullkrug said when he got off the plane to sign for the Hammers.
